All I want to do is have a GUI to remotely manage the server, start it up if it is powered off, things like that. It also gives you Idrac8 license generator Media, which gives you the ability to do things like install the OS remotely.
Edited at 12:11 UTC Express is all I ever get, with iDRAC 7 you get quite a bit of features, you can turn it off and on, however as I recall getting a remote console virtual KVM essentially is a higher licensing item. The remote console lets you actually watch and interact with the boot process, as well as the ability to access the BIOS, Drac, and the Raid controller. It also gives you Virtual Media, which gives you the ability to do things like install the OS remotely. I replaced 2 motherboards but i didnt backed up my enterprise licence. With the Express you are limited to being able to power the server on and off, and manage the Drac while monitoring the system.
With the 12th generation servers, the hardware is installed already. My questions are 1 am I thinking right about the express version and 2 do I have to wait on my sales rep or idrac8 license generator I download the trial version somewhere?
