The battery is already in the unit so it's ready to plug in and play! The pedal uses the standard 9-volt boss or ibanez adapter. The middle position bypasses the clipping diodes so you can use the pedal for more of a boost. The up position gives you an asymetrical (more bite & clarity) distortion. The 3-way switch in the down position yields a symetrical (smooth) distortion.
The controls are simple left knob is gain, middle is tone, and right is volume. This pedal gets into more of a fuzz type distortion with gain all the way up. Fourteen years later, he is still building every pedal himself, building hand wired, point to point, socketed circuit boards, that permit him to voice each and every pedal, resulting in a consistancy of performance unachievable by most other "boutique" builders using printed circuit boards.
